Lindsay Smith, Owner/Instructor (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

Lindsay started her musical career when she picked up the trombone at age 10. At Long Beach City College she pursued a music degree while putting on folk and blues shows around town singing and playing guitar. Since then she has release a solo album called Hold Steady under the name Lindsay Alexis as well as an album called Follow Me Under in which she plays trombone with her group, Van Goat -a very silly swing/punk band. Combining her love of music with her experience working with kids led her to taking over the San Francisco branch of Music for Aardvarks -now expanding into Oakland! Who knows where she'll take the business next!

Derek Burle, Instructor (Birthday Parties, Events)

Derek, a Los Angeles native, grew up loving two things: science and music. He watched Bill Nye and practiced the electric guitar in equal measure. While earning a geology degree at U.C. Santa Cruz, he started cutting his teeth by performing professionally with several rock bands. After moving to the bay area with his current group, Van Goat, Derek has become a teacher of many subjects including guitar, bass, ukulele, and high school math and science. When not teaching, you can find Derek gigging, riding his bike, going to shows and playing board games.
